From Bio Sci Major to Travel Innovator: The Birth of the Bolstie

As a UC Irvine Biological Sciences grad, I'm quite familiar with the human body physiology . Eventhough I’ve haven’t used my degree for nearly 30 years, our anatomy remains largely unchanged - a fact that makes the proliferation of ineffective travel pillows all the more baffling. Where are all the engineers?
I've watched, bemused, as countless neck pillow designs hit the market, each more outlandish than the last. In my early travel days, I too fell for their empty promises, only to abandon them after  one use. I instantly knew they were useless  but of course it wasn’t at the top of my list of “fix it” when my body was younger and could endure discomfort at least once a year.

For years, I resigned myself to the discomfort of flying, treating it as an unavoidable part of my yearly vacation despite a few hacks before they were called hacks.

But as my travels increased, particularly those grueling  5 + hours and overseas flights, I knew I needed a better solution.

After many years of DIY travel hacks such as putting my travel clothes in a rolled-up pillowcase and a deep understanding of ergonomics to support the head and the body at the same time, the Bolstie came to life.

The Bolstie mimics the blissful comfort of lying down while you're upright, using your own packed rolls of clothes as support. It directly keeps the head in alignment while cradling  the body, preventing the dreaded travel head-bobbing and body slouch-resulting neck pains and backaches.

But here's the kicker - by holding my clothes, it’s also became  my luggage! Holding 3-7 days worth of clothes, the Bolstie embodies my favorite three E's: easy, effective, and efficient.

No more compromising between comfort and practicality. With the Bolstie, you can sail through long-haul flights feeling refreshed and organized. It's not just a pillow; it's a testament to the power of understanding human anatomy and the art of smart travel.
